The Master Key System Chapter 16 goes deeper into the role cause and effect has in the manifestation of money.
Haanel starts by explaining what money is.
“Wealth is a product of labor. Capital is an effect, not a cause; a servant, not a master; a means, not an end.”
If we want to have more wealth, we need to focus on the cause which is thought.
The thoughts we must dwell on need to focus on what the money will do for us.
We often have monetary goals in terms of numbers.
For some, it’s $10,000 a month, for others $1,000,000 a month.
These numbers mean nothing unless we have a reason to make the money.
Having a reason creates what Napoleon Hill (one of Haanel’s mentees) calls a burning desire.
This desire is what impregnates the subconscious mind, which in turn communicates with the Universal Mind to help us achieve our goals.
“With such an ideal in mind, the ways and means can and will be provided, but the mistake must not be made of substituting the means for the end. There must be a definite fixed purpose — an ideal.”
— Charles Haanel
The Master Key System Chapter 16 Big Idea: Spiritual Power
Haanel shares the importance of having spiritual power.
He explains how material circumstances are irrelevant to those who have built up this faculty.
In Haanel’s time, men like Andrew Carnegie, Sir Thomas Lipton and many more amassed great prosperity despite not starting in the best situations.
“They forget that Andrew Carnegie’s mother had to help support the family when they came to America…that Harriman’s father was a poor clergyman with a salary of only $200.00 a year…that Sir Thomas Lipton started with only 25 cents.”
What these men had was spiritual power.
Spiritual power is the ability to focus on internal realities over external realities.
When your imagined world is just as real to you as your outside circumstances, you have strong spiritual power.
A good example of this process comes from the MMA fighter Francis Ngannou’s manifestation method.
Most people’s thoughts are formed largely based on the events happening in their external world.
People are programmed by their social circle, their parents and mainstream media to behave a certain way.
Very rarely do people create their own impressions; visions which are not based on what is already manifested.
Those with this spiritual ability tend to becomes great successes and geniuses in their respective fields.
A good example of this spiritual power at work can be seen in Nikola Tesla’s evening routine.
Tesla attributes his evening routine as being responsible for the development of some of his greatest inventions.
There is no good or bad
“Good and evil therefore are not entities, they are simply words which we use to indicate the result of our actions, and these actions are in turn predetermined by the character of our thought…If our thought is constructive and harmonious we manifest good; if it is destructive and discordant we manifest evil.”
The words good and bad are subjective.
The great Universal Mind is impersonal to the games of mortals and simply allows us to have free will.
We can create an amazing life or a horrendous life through our thinking and perceptions.
There have been many people who have achieved the peaks of success but suffered from severe internal struggles.
There are people like Viktor Frankl who endured the most heinous of circumstances yet somehow managed to have a meaningful and fulfilling life.
The external materials are irrelevant.
What one must focus on is the internals as was taught by the Stoics for thousands of years.
The Master Key System Chapter 16 Exercise Explained
For your exercise this week, try to bring yourself to a realization of the important fact that harmony and happiness are states of consciousness and do not depend upon the possession of things. Realize that things are effects and come as a consequence of correct mental states…
This exercise aims to teach you how to experience what you desire mentally before you see it physically.
Often we are taught imagination is for children.
We are not encouraged to be content mentally but instead are programmed to enter the rat race of struggle and grasping.
The reality is that you don’t have to struggle for what you want.
You can experience it mentally right now.
Once you are content with this exercise, you will notice how a bridge of incidents will begin to form leading to the physical experience of what you seek.
Consequently, if you hold firm to this exercise, you will experience the mental event in the physical world.
You will get to enjoy it twice.
Do this, and you will be one step closer to mastering your mind and shifting your reality.
