The Master Key System Chapter 23 deals with money making through mastering service.
“Compensation is the key-note of the universe. Nature is constantly seeking to strike an equilibrium. Where something is sent out, something must be received.”
— Charles Haanel
The most important law of wealth is the law of compensation.
The Law of Compensation is a derivative of the Law of Cause and Effect.
You get out what you put out.
If you’re looking to make more money, you need to learn how to be of greater service to the world.
“You can make a money magnet of yourself, but to do so you must first consider how you can make money for other people… Morgan, Rockefeller, Carnegie, and others did not get rich because they lost money for other people.”
The easiest way to be of service is by making other people money.
Putting aside the ethics of their character, when you objectively look at the billionaires of the world you will see how they made a lot of people money.
The 100s of billions which Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos have are only a fraction of the wealth they have created for others.
Bill Gates made many people rich through the Windows operating system and other Microsoft products.
Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger made their investors stupidly rich through prudent investment decisions, and as a result they became wealthy themselves.
Unless you unconsciously sabotage your own success, it is actually difficult to make others rich without you getting a piece of the pie.
The Master Key system Chapter 23 – Cheating the Infinite
“The man who at least is not fair in his intention is simply ignorant… He cannot cheat the Infinite. The law of compensation will demand of him an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.”
Those who try to get ahead by cheating the infinite through attempting to make money without providing value will inevitably face the consequences.
Take the drug dealer who destroys communities by supplying addicts with poison.
He might make money in the short-term,
But in the long-term he will likely be killed by one of his enemies or be plagued by paranoia.
How about the scam artist who takes advantage of people during business deals?
In time, people will learn all his tricks and his reputation will be ruined.
Whatever he has gained through deceit, he will lose because of balancing powers of the Infinite Mind.
Instead of trying to cheat the Universal, work on changing your relationship with it.
Focus on courage over fear.
Prosperity over poverty.
You will get what you give, so pay attention to your thoughts and emotions.
The Story of Mr. X
Haanel explains how there are two groups of individuals in the world.
Thinkers and non-thinkers.
The thinkers tend to have disproportionate success, while the non-thinkers are relegated to the common standards given to them.
“The average person is entirely innocent of any deep thinking; he accepts the ideas of others and repeats them in very much the same way as a parrot; this is readily seen when we understand the method which is used to form public opinion and this docile attitude on the part of a large majority, who seem perfectly willing to let a few persons do all their thinking for them, is what enables a few men in a great many countries to usurp all the avenues of power and hold the millions in subjection. Creative thinking requires attention.”
Thinking is difficult work.
Thinking is more difficult than physical work, and because of this, most people do not engage in it.
As a mental scientist you need to constantly work on strengthening your power of attention and concentration.
These powers are what connects you to the Infinite Mind and allows you to obtain the inspiration needed to overcome any challenge.
Haanel explains the power of this process through the story of Mr. X.
Mr. X, once a savvy businessman, found himself down on his luck.
Many believed that perhaps he had finally reached the end of the line as he was getting older and great ideas were not coming to him as quickly as they once did.
Haanel had a conversation with Mr. X in which Mr. X reassured him of his faith in the Universal Mind and the key ideas of New Thought philosophy.
“It looks good to me and I am going to look into it.”
They were the parting words before Mr. X would vanish for some time.
Two years later, when Haanel was having a conversation with a friend, he learned his old friend Mr. X’s incredible comeback story.
Apparently Mr. X got into a new business that did incredibly well, far surpassing his previous successes.
This success came because he understood the Law.
Haanel ends the lesson by explaining how spirituality is not wishful thinking or woo-woo.
Spirituality is the most practical thing you can study for success because it is the First Principle of reality.
“‘Spirituality’ is quite ‘practical’, very ‘practical’, intensely ‘practical. It teaches that Spirit is the Real Thing, the Whole Thing, and that Matter is but plastic stuff, which Spirit is able to create, mould, manipulate, and fashion to its will. Spirituality is the most ‘practical’ thing in the world — the only really and absolutely ‘practical’ thing that there is!”
The Master Key System Chapter 23 Exercise Explained
This week concentrate on the fact that man is not a body with a spirit, but a spirit with a body, and that it is for this reason that his desires are incapable of any permanent satisfaction in anything not spiritual. Money is therefore of no value except to bring about the conditions which we desire and these conditions are necessarily harmonious. Harmonious conditions necessitate sufficient supply, so that if there appears to be any lack, we should realize that the idea, or soul, of money is service, and as this thought takes form, channels of supply will be opened and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that spiritual methods are entirely practical.
The meditation for week 23 is all about understanding the practicality of spiritual work. We often hear of the concept of man being a ‘spiritual being having a human experience’.
This is true.
Before you are human, you are spirit.
Awareness takes up many forms; at night during dreams you sometimes cease to be human but the continuity of awareness remains.
The body is merely a suit for your travels.
Do this, and you will be one step closer to living and dying well.
