Is the subconscious mind connected to the universe?
Is the subconscious mind connected to the universe?
Can we get answers from another plane through the subconscious?
These questions might seem woo-woo or esoteric, but some great thinkers of our time have talked about this universal connection.
This universal field of information has many different names depending on the tradition.
Quantum physicists call it the field or non-local consciousness.
In Sanskrit it’s called the Akashic Records.
Napoleon Hill calls it ‘Infinite Intelligence’, Vadim Zeland ‘The Alternative Space’.
Christians call it God.
Muslims call it Allah.
The main theme being there is a way to access hidden knowledge of which your conscious mind is not aware.
Knowledge that cannot be derived from First Principles Thinking or other logical thinking modalities.
Knowledge that comes to you in a flash.
Nikola Tesla and the subconscious minds universal connection
My brain is only a receiver, in the Universe there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength and inspiration.” – Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest minds to ever grace the planet.
He is responsible for inventing AC current, which is the dominating form of current in our modern world. If it wasn’t for Tesla’s work, our lives would be very different.
Tesla was known for having vivid visualizations…
When I get an idea I start at once building it up in my imagination. I change the construction, make improvements, and operate the device entirely in my mind.”
He would construct elaborate devices all in his mind before committing them to paper.
Tesla believed instinctual knowledge was something far more powerful than acquired knowledge.
But instinct is something which transcends knowledge. We have, undoubtedly, certain finer fibers that enable us to perceive truths when logical deduction, or any other willful effort of the brain, is futile.”
He undoubtedly would have believed in the subconscious mind’s universal connection; I mean he did say ‘My brain is only a receiver’.
Who or what was sending the information to Tesla?

Napoleon Hill and Infinite Intelligence
The subconscious mind is the intermediary between the conscious thinking mind and infinite intelligence, and you can invoke the aid of infinite intelligence only through the medium of the subconscious mind, by giving it clear instructions as to what you want.” – Napoleon Hill
Napoleon Hill, the author of the widely successful ‘Think and Grow Rich’, believed in this connection between the subconscious and the universe.
He claimed infinite intelligence could be accessed only through the subconscious.
You first must use your conscious mind to get clear on exactly what you want.
The conscious mind influences the subconscious mind, which in turn might gain access to the universal mind.
A good example is what happened to Friedrich A Kekulé, a German organic chemist who discovered the structure Benzene.
Kekulé toiled for years on the work to no avail.
He stretched his conscious mind to its limits.
His subconscious mind undoubtedly was involved in the process suggesting different configurations of Benzene that he would try out with his conscious mind through calculations.
It is said that after a hard day of work Kekulé fell asleep next to his fireplace.
He had a weird dream where he saw a snake eating its own tail while rotating.
This image is also known as the ouroboros in mythology.
Upon waking up he realized that Benzene’s structure must be that of a ring.
It turns out that he was correct, and his search was over.
Did his subconscious gain access to the universal mind through his dreams?
Or was it just a coincidence?
This is for you to decide.

Michelangelo’s David came from the subconscious
I created a vision of David in my mind and simply carved away everything that was not David.” – Michelangelo
Michelangelo’s David is perhaps one of the most popular sculptures in the world.
But where did David come from?
According to Michelangelo, David was already in the stone. He could see the vision in his mind and simply removed everything else until David emerged.
Michelangelo has said similar things about other pieces of art.
I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”
Every block of stone has a statue inside it, and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.”
What allowed the sculptor to see these beautiful figures? Was it his subconscious mind connected to some universal mind?
Many artists in different fields talk about channeling a muse from which to draw inspiration for their work.
Here are some lyrics from Tupac Shakur’s song ‘Ghetto Gospel’:
God isn’t finished with me, yet I feel his hand on my brain.
When I write rhymes, I go blind and let the Lord do his thing.”
To me going blind and letting the lord do his thing does sound like allowing the subconscious to connect to a universal mind.
Here is what Post Malone had to say about his songwriting process.
All of my ideas are kind of like mistakes. You never wake up and say ‘today I’m gonna write ‘congratulations’’ or any song and you kind of just. It’s all about right moment right time. It’s an accident it is just like a spur of the moment type deal. You’re like, let me sing this melody over this beat or let me make this beat, and it just kind of happens.”
Post Malone is talking about how making music is an emergent process.
You don’t consciously construct each part of the song logically but instead allow it to come to you. You use your subconscious mind to see what aspects of the song work and what parts don’t.
What is guiding the subconscious mind? Another question for you to think about.
Is the subconscious mind connected to the universe? Ask Bobbie the Wonder Dog
In the 1920s, a 2-year-old dog called Bobbie got lost whilst on a family vacation in Indiana. The owners Mr. and Mrs. Brazier looked tirelessly for the dog before giving up their search and returning home brokenhearted.
The family lived in Silverton, Oregon and were restaurant owners.
Around 6 months after losing their dog, Bobbie showed up at the doorstep of their restaurant. It made its way upstairs to the living quarters and licked Frank’s face. The dog was emaciated but happy to be home.
Bobbie’s claws were worn from the journey.
There is only one strange thing about this story.
Bobbie was left 2800 miles or 4506 kilometers away from the family restaurant.
He got lost in Indiana and somehow made it back to Oregon by himself.
The family went public with the story and an investigation was conducted by the Oregon Humane Society.
The investigators interviewed dozens of people and discovered Bobbie did not follow the Braziers’ route back home.
He travelled his own path over unfamiliar terrain as if guided by an internal GPS.
You might be thinking this is impossible!
It’s a different dog.
Well, Bobbie was identified as the same dog through analyzing several distinct marks and scars on his body.
As a dog owner you would know your dog.
There have also been other cases of such events happening. In 1981, Minosch a German cat is said to have travelled 1485 miles or 2390 kilometers in 61 days to reunite with his family.
What has allowed these animals to return home by themselves?
It’s not their sense of smell or any other physical sense.
Perhaps even animals can somehow gain access to this universal mind and discover information.
I don’t think this is done consciously but subconsciously.
Their senses just propel them towards a particular direction.
The idea is not far-fetched. Homing pigeons are known to traverse great distances and return home.
Baby turtles know the direction of the ocean upon coming out from their shells and instinctively move towards it.
There is an intelligence which science struggles to understand to which all animals and man are privy.
The moment when you just know an answer is perhaps a time when your subconscious mind is connecting to the universe and accessing hidden information.
So, is the subconscious mind connected to the universe?
That is for you to decide.
Do this and you will be one step closer to living and dying well.
