Gurdjieff’s Machine & Nikola Tesla’s Favourite book ‘Abafi’

Posted on May 6, 2026May 6, 2026 by Isaac

I have been reading the work of the mystic and philosopher Gurdjieff.

He has something very interesting to say about mankind.

“Man is a machine. All his deeds, actions, words, thoughts, feelings, convictions, and habits are the result of external influences. Out of himself a man cannot produce a single thought, a single action. Everything he says, does, thinks, feels – all this happens. Man is born, lives, dies, builds houses, writes books, not as he wants to, but as it happens.”

Gurdjieff is talking about the typical human who operates no differently from an unconscious machine.

He is not talking about realized humans who have awakened to their latent abilities of conscious creation.

The common Man is a creature of habit.

A creature of reaction, a victim of circumstances.

The common mind is shaped entirely by its upbringing, society and happenings.

This is why it’s so easy for a few people in the world to control millions via systems of economic enslavement.

This is why it’s so easy for the Overton window to be shifted.

Why it has become child’s play to mould the beliefs of

generations to their choosing.

Because man is a machine, and a machine can be programmed.

Waking Up from The Machine Mind

People who create amazing breakthroughs for the benefit of mankind are those who have awoken to their birthright as conscious creators.

To do this, they need to reject the machine mind and accept the calling of higher levels of awareness.

One of my favourite people to study is Nikola Tesla, the genius mind who set the foundation for many of the technologies we use today.

Below is just a small sample of some of his contributions.

In his autobiography, he shared the moment he realized that he also had the machine mind.

“Soon I became aware, to my surprise, that every thought I conceived was suggested by an external impression…it became perfectly evident to me that I was merely an automaton endowed with power of movement.”

But luckily for Tesla, he stumbled upon a piece of fiction called “Abafi (the Son of Aba)” which inspired him to regain his God-given gift of creation.

The same gifts we all have.

The rare book is about a 16th-century Transylvanian nobleman who begins his life as a machine.

He is reckless, indulgent, and living a life of excess through drinking and gambling.

However, at some stage, something happens to him that becomes the catalyst for change.

The book shows an odyssey of the soul, revealing the fruits that come from self-mastery.

“This work somehow awakened my dormant powers of will and I began to practise self-control. At first my resolutions faded like snow in April, but in a little while I conquered my weakness and felt a pleasure I never knew before—that of doing as I willed.”

Building The Willpower Muscle

One must develop the will to be a strong guide for the subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind will fulfil all your dreams, but it needs to be influenced by the Watchman at the gate.

Willpower is limited.

It does not have enough strength to go against the machine mind alone. But like a military general, it can call upon backup with tremendous firing power.

Its role is to direct the ship and utilise the same mechanistic property of the mind for its benefit.

Instead of allowing the outside world to program your mind.

You protect your mind from nefarious actors; you dispose of mental limitations and consciously program the result you want.

This is done by systematically redesigning yourself in accordance with the ideal you wish to be.

Plotting the exact characteristics you wish to demonstrate,

Outlining the physical manifestation you wish to inhabit.

Then you dispose of those things that no longer serve you.

Before growing healthy crops, you need to remove the weeds.

You need verdant soil for a beautiful harvest, and that’s exactly what you must give yourself.

Emptiness, removing the inputs given by others, and only indulging in material that will benefit you.

In my Hacking The Subconscious program, I call this process Emersion, and I outline the step-by-step process you need to follow to destroy the machine mind.

When you do this, you will start noticing your behaviours changing from the reactive ones programmed by the world,

To more conscious creations dictated by your will.

Soon, you will see your outer world shifting in accordance with your new inner state.

In time, your current reality would seem like a distant dream.

The process is simple but not easy.

Unfortunately, the world does not want to teach you this stuff.

They want you to stay as a machine and continue doing mechanical work.

I’m in your corner, rooting for you,

Talk soon,

Isaac
