What is the magic pill?
Whether you are losing fat or building muscle one fact remains true, there is no magic pill. Do not be fooled by savvy marketers that promise ‘INSTANT RESULTS’, or ‘SHORTCUTS’, the only shortcut you will receive is one to losing your money. Think about it for a moment, do the people who are trying to sell you this stuff actually use their own methods? Odds are they don’t. This magic pill society that we live in, is one that is stimulated by instant gratification while repelled by hard work. Sadly although magic pills would be nice, there is no easy way to your dream body. Like anything worth having in life you must take action in order to attain it. The first step is learning to scope out the bullshit, if something promises you incredibly quick results with bare minimum work you can disregard it. You can leave the easy way for the dummies, if it’s excellence that you are after pledge allegiance to hard work.
Buy in to the vision
Before you can attain it you must visualise it. You must have an incredibly clear vision of where you want to go before you get there. Building your dream body without a vision is like driving to a new job without the address, you will not be pleased by the results. If you do not buy in and believe in your vision you can bet your ass your mind will sabotage you. Your mind will come up with 1001 excuses as to why you should not get up early in the morning for that run, or spend 2 hours cooking your meal prep. If there is no tangential reason for your sacrifices your efforts would be for naught. Make it real if you want to see results, buy into the idea completely to the point of having dreams about it.
Get Inspired
Keep the fire burning and get inspired. Watch youtube videos on body transformations, talk to your friends that have changed their bodies, or join a fitness challenge. Do whatever it takes to keep the fire burning, getting inspired gives some weight to your goals. Motivation makes the subconscious mind go “Shit! this is actually important, better pay attention”. When inspired you will be more conscious about the choices you make throughout the day making it easier to make the right decisions for your goals.
Find training partners
Before any great battle a commander needs to rally up his solders, this is no different you need to get some training partners. I want to put an emphasis on ‘partners’, the reason you should have more than one person is because people tend to fall off. As discussed previously, don’t be surprised if one or more of your partners gives up or falls for the magic pill, you must keep moving. If you happen to find a good partner who is as determined as you, you can both feed of each others energy. A training partner keeps you accountable, they make sure you get that extra rep you didn’t know you had in you. You do not need training partners to reach your goals, but they definitely can help you stay on track.
The true secret
The only time making progress and reaching your goals becomes easy is when you have fallen in love with the grind. Falling in love with the grind is falling in love with the process. Falling in love with the grind entails the point in which you no longer just do what you do for results, but instead do it for the sake of doing it. There is a point when you stop dreading going to the gym, and actually look forward to it, a point when you eat healthy habitually. Once you reach this point the attainment of your goals is no longer work, and becomes enjoyable. This is the point that creates the greatest successes. Why does Floyd Mayweather keep boxing after attaining millions of dollars over his career? because he fell in love with the grind. Why does Steven Spielberg keep directing after 40 years and amassing a net worth of $3.5 billion dollars? He is still in love with the grind. If you want to reach your body goals understand that it will take time, you might as well learn to enjoy that time.
