The Master Key System Chapter 21 deals with the idea of thinking big thoughts.
The central premise of why you should think big rather than small comes from the infinite power of the Universal Mind.
“The creative energies of mind find no more difficulty in handling large situations than small ones. Mind is just as much present in the Infinitely large as in the Infinitely small.”
The Universal Mind, which is capable of creating vast universes, sees no difference in helping you make $1 or $100,000,000.
The difference comes from our limitations.
Thinking small makes you choose pathways which you deem easier.
Often these paths make the success of larger goals impossible.
Take a real estate agent who believes selling cheaper houses will be easier than more expensive houses.
This agent might have to work just as hard to sell broken-down houses as the agent who sells penthouses to billionaires.
Between the two, the process of selling might be different.
But the difficulty might actually be easier for the high-end agent who chose to put themselves in the lane of success.
Thinking big also has a great secondary benefit.
It stops you from sweating the small stuff and allows you to focus on what matters.
“Large ideas have a tendency to eliminate all smaller ideas so that it is well to hold ideas large enough to counteract and destroy all small or undesirable tendencies.”
The millionaire does not care about rejection because they have a large goal they are moving towards.
This lack of care allows them to move faster towards success.
Geniuses like Einstein spent more time focusing on big theoretical ideas.
Einstein may not have been the best mathematician, but he still managed to work out some of the most groundbreaking theories in physics.
Why?
Because he thought big.
The Master Key System Chapter 21 :How do we activate our subconscious minds?
Mental science deals with approaching thought just like a scientist in a laboratory.
He learns the relationship between conscious, subconscious and Universal Minds.
“We know that the universe is governed by law; that for every effect there must be a cause; and that the same cause, under the same conditions, will invariably produce the same effect. Consequently, if prayer has ever been answered, it will always be answered if the proper conditions are complied with.”
If someone was able to attain a result through prayer (meditation on an ideal),
That presupposes that you, too, can attain success through prayer.
Our world is not random, and surely there are things which can increase the probability of you attaining your desire.
The common theme behind men and women of success is faith.
“The real secret of power is consciousness of power. The Universal Mind is unconditional.”
When you understand that true power comes from within, you transcend the limitations of outer conditions.
A great quote which reflects this idea comes from Florence Shinn.
I am unmoved by appearances; therefore appearances move.
These appearances move through a logical process.
Every thought creates an impression on the brain, that these impressions create mental tendencies, and these tendencies create character, ability, and purpose, and that the combined action of character, ability, and purpose determines the experiences with which we shall meet in life.
— Charles Haanel
When you look at the situation from a higher perspective you will see that like attracts like.
Given a long enough time horizon, the dominating conditions of your mind will lead your outer reality.
If your inner world is chaotic and you are stuck looking at your bleak outer conditions, it’s very easy to stay in a perpetual feedback loop of negativity.
It’s like the infinite reflections which happen when two mirrors are opposed to each other.
The key is to make a change in yourself which will then get reflected in the outer.
You need to believe before you can see.
This is the opposite of what the masses are taught through mainstream programming.
How The Masses Are Brainwashed
Haanel explains how there is a fundamental difference between creative and passive thought.
“The creative thought is dominated by an ideal, the passive thought is dominated by appearances.”
When you think of revolutionary scientists, inventors and artists, you imagine an eccentric hard at work in a silent room.
This silence allows them to connect to the Universal Mind and get intuitive hunches which allow them to bring something new to the world.
These pushers of humanity are obsessed with ideals.
Ideals are non-physical and lie in the realm of archetypes.
On the other side of the spectrum are the passive thinkers.
The masses are consumed by appearances.
To them, what is real is what they can see or what has been done.
What has not been accomplished is commonly frowned upon as an impossibility.
This style of thinking has been brainwashed into the masses by societal conditioning, specifically the education system.
Napoleon Hill (a student of Haanel) called these two modes of thinking creative and synthetic imagination.
Haanel explains how identifying with the Universal Mind and learning to turn inwards will free the masses from bondage.
“When they realize that the transcendent force of spirit or mind of the Cosmos is within each individual, it will be possible to frame laws that shall consider the liberties and rights of the many instead of the privileges of the few.”
The key comes from constructive thinking.
Learning to see what isn’t yet manifested in the physical.
Not being afraid to think big because the power which creates Universes does not consider your worldly wants ‘big’.
To do this we must break the habits of negative thinking.
The key to breaking a bad habit is following the same process of creating a good habit.
“…we stop doing a thing, and then avoid it again, and again until we are entirely free from it; and if we do fail now and then, we should by no means lose hope, for the law is absolute and invincible and gives us credit for every effort and every success, even though our efforts and successes are perhaps intermittent.”
It’s not about being perfect but attaining those credits towards the person you want to be.
The Master Key System Chapter 21 Exercise Explained
For your exercise this week, concentrate on the Truth. Try to realize that the Truth shall make you free. That is, nothing can permanently stand in the way of your perfect success when you learn to apply the scientifically correct thought methods and principles. Realize that you are externalizing in your environment your inherent soul potencies. Realize that the Silence offers an ever available and almost unlimited opportunity for awakening the highest conception of Truth. Try to comprehend that Omnipotence itself is absolute silence — all else is change, activity, limitation. Silent thought concentration is therefore the true method of reaching, awakening, and then expressing the wonderful potential power of the world within.
Much like other exercises, the lesson for week 21 invites you to sit in a silent meditation of your connection to the Universal Mind. Consider how any desire you have can be realized through scientific means. Whatever someone else has accomplished you can too. Also consider how you must change your inner world to see the corresponding reflection in the outer.\
Do this and you will be one step closer to living and dying well.
