The following are powerful affirmations from the book The Game of Life and How To Play It. If you haven’t already, check out our summary of the book.
We will look at affirmations, explain why they work and when you should use them.
The Game of Life and how to play it Affirmations for Prosperity
“God is my unfailing supply, and large sums of money come to me quickly, under grace, in perfect ways.”
God or the superconscious mind is your supply.
You need not look to external conditions for solutions, simply have faith, and enter the silence with your request. According to Florence, the answer to your prayers will come in strange ways, possibly a line in a book, a conversation with a friend.
“Infinite Spirit open the way for great abundance for –. I am an irresistible magnet for all that belongs to me by divine right.”
A modified version of a quote Florence said to her student. This works because it asserts your divine right to have good things. This clears any guilt hidden in the subconscious mind associated with you attaining your desire.
“The storehouse of the heavens now pours forth its abundant riches to me, and flows to me all the financial prosperity that I need and want, right now.”
This makes you understand that there are more riches in heaven (unrealized potential) than on the physical plane. All you need can be borrowed from this abundant realm.
“I have a perfect work, In a perfect way; I give a perfect service.”
This affirmation helps you align the work you do with the things you love. Too many people are in industries they don’t belong and suffer as a result. Imagine getting paid to do what you love.
“I am divinely sensitive to my intuitive leads, and give instant obedience to Thy will.”
This affirmation helps you get in touch with the prompts from the superconscious mind. When you give yourself a request such as to pay attention to the colour red, you will begin seeing red everywhere because your focus shifts. This affirmation uses the same process giving you more sensitivity to the ‘leads’ of the superconscious.
Affirmations For Dealing With Adversity
“None of these things move me.”
This Stoic affirmation will keep your mind aligned in the internal world over the shifts of outside circumstances.
“Every plan my Father in heaven has not planned, shall be dissolved and dissipated, and the Divine Idea now comes to pass.”
This helps remove unnecessary anxiety about the future. What is meant to be will be, just like ‘Amor Fati’, you will learn to love your fate.
“Only that which is true of God is true of me, for I and the Father are ONE.”
This affirmation helps you remember the divine spark which is inside you. For more on this idea, check out the concept of Mentalism.
Affirmations For Health
“Divine Love now dissolves and dissipates every wrong condition in my mind, body and affairs. Divine Love is the most powerful chemical in the universe, and dissolves everything which is not of itself!”
This is an affirmation for perfect health calling upon the power of love.
“My eyes are God’s eyes, I see with the eyes of spirit. I see clearly the open way; there are no obstacles on my pathway. I see clearly the perfect plan.”
This can be used as an affirmation for eyesight or metaphorical wisdom and discernment. One can learn to see clearly in both ways.
“My ears are God’s ears, I hear with the ears of spirit. I am nonresistant and am willing to be led. I hear glad tidings of great joy.”
This can be used as an affirmation for better hearing or the ability to discern the ‘leads’ which come via intuition.
“I deny this appearance of disease. It is unreal, therefore cannot register in his consciousness; this man is a perfect idea in Divine Mind, pure substance expressing perfection.”
Similar to the work from Émile Coué, this is an affirmation for health and wellbeing.
Affirmations For relationships
“I am constantly surrounded by loving friends and family; I love others for who they are without judgment or agenda, and I receive all the love that I need.”
Use this affirmation to improve your relationships and social circle.
“Perfect love within attracts perfect love into my life now; I am in the right relationship with the right person, with love as our guide.”
This allows your subconscious mind to being attracting the right partner for you, helping you overcome toxic patterns of the past.
Florence Scovel Shinn Affirmations Guide
We have seen the various affirmations recommended by Florence, but how exactly do we use them and how often? In this section we will look at her advice regarding affirmations.
“Continually affirming establishes the belief in the subconscious.”
The aim of the affirmation is to install belief into one’s subconscious mind.
The more one repeats an affirmation with belief, the more ingrained the program becomes in their mind.
Eventually, the affirmation will become an automatic program which runs without conscious effort.
How often should you repeat your affirmations?
“It would not be necessary to make an affirmation more than once if one had perfect faith! One should not plead or supplicate, but give thanks repeatedly, that he has received.”
The harder the idea is to believe, the more the affirmation will need to be repeated.
The idea isn’t to burn yourself to the ground or beat your subconscious mind into submission.
It’s not about magnitude but frequency.
You can’t speed up the growth of a plant by putting more water on it.
You simply water and care for it every day until it begins to grow.
Some plants require more time, others grow quickly.
The only way to fail is to stop watering.
After some time, the plant will be self-sustaining and won’t need watering from you. Perhaps it will become a tree and have roots which dig deep into the earth for sustenance.
The same process happens with the subconscious mind.
After a while, everything will become automatic, and the affirmations will be a silent knowing in your being.
The Feeling Behind The Affirmation
Florence explains how you should affirm from a place of gratitude.
This demonstrates faith in what you affirm having already been given to you.
You can’t have faith if you simply rely on what can be seen.
This emotion of gratitude is what allows the subconscious mind to begin shifting its perspective.
The subconscious mind lives in a timeless domain; the past, future and present all lying in an eternal NOW.
This is why reflecting on a painful memory can cause your body to feel emotional pain.
When you shift your emotions and thoughts to ones of gratitude, and if the subconscious mind accepts these beliefs, it will begin operating as if the reality was true.
This is how big changes happen in life.
